DRINKING SILVER - TEA WINE JUG MUG at BRENDA GINSBERG ART & ANTIQUES

1883 RUSSIAN SILVER ,GILT & IVORY SUGAR BOWL 19th Century, made in St. Petersburg, Russia, heavy solid silver sugar bowl with attached lid. Silver of Superior grade. Superb quality. Design reflects purely Russian architecture and imagery. Measures 6 7/8" high. Weighs 18 1/2oz. Sugar bowl displays the unique beauty of the purely Russian character. Gilt washed inside. Ivory base to finial. handles stand out at right angles. Beaded borders. Marks:Handles show the St. Petersburg hallmark. Inside of lid is clearly hallmarked as is underside of the bowl. One hallmark shows a right-facing profile with 87 next to it. This indicates a higher grade of silver. Date hallmark shows 1883. Condition: very good. One or two totally negligible dents. A faint mark where something may have once been artificially attached to the piece.

ANTIQUE NOUVEAU GERMAN SILVER CHOCOLATE POT Late 19th Century German .800 Silver chocolate pot or water jug. 9 inches high. Weighs 21 1/2oz. Classic form with Decoration typical Art Nouveau style. Has original heat insulators near top & bottom of handle. Magnificent Moulded and applied rose finial on hinged lid. The front is decorated with outstanding repousse work depicting a large open flower and a number of buds on a sprig. The work is raised in parts and deeper in others with many signs of hand hammering. Very fine detail and exquisite quality and craftmanship. marks : Underneath is a large K.R engraved. The following is impressed:Gebr.Friedlander; hallmark; 800; crescent moon & crown (the Kaiser's symbols).
Good condition with minor surface wear commensurate with over 100 years in existance (look at the 'photos to see they are scarcely visible with the naked eye) and a questionable join of the spout to the body - might be an old restoration and might be original (again, see 'photos).
