ANTIQUE PERSIAN SILVER TEA CADDY BOX ISLAM
Antique Persian silver tea caddy or box with very fine Turkish Islamic design. Made in Persia and believed to be 80 - 110 years old. <P><P>
Measures 2 3/8 inches high; weighs 105g. <P><P>
Rectangular box with canted corners. A small thumbpiece for opening on the lid. Hinge at the back joining lid to bottom. The entire surface outside is decorated with a raised Islamic pattern of very fine flowers and foliage within scrolling borders. Beautiful detail. <P><P>
Impressed hallmark 800 in an oval for the silver standard. <P><P>
Very good condition.

ANTIQUE ENGRAVED SILVER SNUFF BOX 1793 SAMUEL
Antique sterling silver snuff box. Made in Birmingham, England, 1793 by Samuel Pemberton. <P><P>
Measures 3 1/8 inches long. Weighs approx 60g / 2 troy oz. <P><P>
Oval shaped, hinged. The entire outside surface is richly engraved with joyous bright cut designs - floral and geometric and simply decorative. A rectangular cartouche with canted corners in the center has a monogram that looks like JA. Shields on either side are left empty. Even the bottom (underneath) is beautifully decorated. See 'photos. <P>
Inside is in much poorer condition than outside and shows it's age/lack of polishing. However, the outside has a wonderful patina, the engraving is very beautiful and the hinge in good shape. <P>
Hallmarks on top and bottom include a somewhat worn anchor for Birmingham, makers mark SP, date letter V for 1793. <P>

ST SILVER BOX W HP MINIATURE PORTRAIT GIRL RA
Sterling silver jewelry / trinket box with handpainted miniature portrait of a beautiful young woman holding a bunny rabbit. Silver is hallmarked for London, England, 1899.<br>
Measures 2 1/2 inches long and almost 1 1/2 inches high. <br>
Oval, hinged box. Unusually deep. No adornment to silver except for the thumbpiece. The top is set with an oval porcelain plaque with a very fine painting of a dark-haired beauty holding a rabbit. She stands in front of a landscape - we see the trees and sky in the background. Wonderful detail - see fine manner eyes, hair and fur were painted, creamy nature of the skin and delicate colouring of the sky. Clearly the work of a master professional.<br>
The box is hallmarked on both bottom and lid. Maker's mark is SC, leopard head, lion and date letter d for 1899. <br>
Condition is very good - no dents/dings/losses/wear/restoration.

PIQUE GOLD INLAY BILLET DOUX LOVE LETTER TUBE
Billet Doux made of gold inlaid tortoise shell / pique. French 18th century.
Measures 5 1/2inches long when closed.
Tubular shape, almost like a flattened cigar, these containers were used to hold love-letters and given by a gentleman to the lady he was courting. The shell was bent into the appropriate shape and then a very fine pattern carved in the surface and inlaid with gold. Fabulous quality workmanship.
This billet doux is in very good condition with negligible wear, commensurate with it's age, but no damage/chips/cracks.

FIGURE MAN LADY SALT PEPPER ANTIQUE DUTCH SIL
Figural salt and pepper / pepperettes in the form of a Dutch man and woman, made of silver, 19th century.
Weigh 4.oz. Just over 3 1/4inches high.
Each figure stands on a round base with twisted rope edge. Each wears clogs. The woman in long dress and petticoats, held up by broad bands crossing over her back, holds flowers in one hand. High bonnet on her head with removable back , pierced for salt. The boy, books under one arm, also in traditional Dutch costume. His head is hinged at the neck, opening to facilitate filling with spices. Great detail to clothing and faces.
Both pieces are hallmarked and in good condition.

FRENCH SILVER BOX HP MINI PAINTING IVORY CAT
Sterling silver (actually .950) lidded box with a handpainted portrait of a ginger tabby cat on ivory on the lid. Made in France, 19th century.
2 inches high, 4 1/2inches in diameter.
Round box with fine raised foliage bands around the borders of the lower sectionx Concave steps towards the lid and thumbpiece, continued to the top of the lid, with a gadrooned border, to a central plateau containing a wonderful painting of a ginger tabby cat on ivory. Huge golden eyes, long white whiskers - fabulous thick coat in a myriad of orange and gold shades. The cat's face is caught perfectly. Fabulous detail. Hinged lid. Inside box is gilded.
Silver hallmarks under box, inside box and on side of lid. Male facing left as used for .950 standard from 1879. Maker initials J.M.
Very good condition.

COMPACT GUILLOCHE ENAMEL ON ST SILVER W BIRDS
Guilloche enamel on sterling silver compact. Made in Austria late 19th or early 20th century.
Measures 1 7/8inches in diameter.
Beautiful honey brown guilloche enamel in concentric rings. The central medallion on the lid depicts two birds amidst long-leafed foliage in raised silver. The mirror on the upper inside of the lid has disintegrated from age, but the glass that covers it is still intact. The lower inside is engraved with STERLING SILVER AUSTRIA and hallmarks.
The enamel and silver are in very good condition except for a negligible spot of wear on the back/underside.

STERLING SILVER GILT TIFFANY BOX SNUFF / PILL
Small box made by Tiffany. Measures 1 3/8inches high. Diam is 1 1/4inches. Cylindrical shape. The sides are beautifully chased with ribbons and swags. Top is monogrammed MT? Rich gilding. Great quality. Top is closed very tight and I don't want to spoil the great condition by forcing it open. Marked TIFFANY & CO STERLING UNDERNEATH. No dings / dents / damage of any sort.
