DAUM NANCY CAMEO GLASS WINTER SCENE GRAVY BOA Antique cameo glass gravy boat / milk jug made early 20th century in France by Daum, Nancy.

Measurements: 2 1/2 inches high; 5 5/8 inches long end to end.

Rounded gravy / pitcher with generous applied handle on back. Upper rim culs over. Tyrelike base. Inside, the glass is a wonderful marbled golden orange, very smoothe and glossy. This smoothe glass turns over the upper rim. The rest of the outside is a matte surface, in beautiful carved cameo glass, depicting a Classic Daum winter scene, particularly well done. Snow on the ground and falling on the trees. Trees entirely bare of leaves, the trunks and branches very sensitively depicted from broad to extremely fine. Minute trees seen disappearing into the distance - very fine and delicate artistry and workmanship.

The glass is signed DAUM NANCY with the Cross of Lorraine underneath.

R. LALIQUE PLATE 1920 FIGURINE W FLOWERS MARC Antique glass plate by Rene Lalique. "Une Figurine et Fleurs" - a figurine with flowers, designed 1920, France.

Measurements: 6-7/8 inches (17.3 cm) diameter.

Glass is smoky frosted with sepia patina. Exceptional iridescence to the modelled figure.
A central figure of a woman, elongated and stretching and bending to conform to the swirl of flowers around her. Her naked body is fantastically modelled in exquisite detail and the iridescence of the glass in this area gives her a surreal angelic appearance. SHort hair with flowers in the bob; every muscle and shimmers and glimmers. Around her little flowers on long stems swirl, emphasising the movement of the body.

The plate has an embossed LALIQUE mark and a hand-engraved FRANCE.

Very good condition.

THis plate is #3002 in Marcilhac, designed 1920 and is guarranteed to be genuine R. Lalique. Marcilhac informs us that this plate (assiette) appeared in the catalogues of 1928, 1932 and 1937. It was discontinued from 1947.

R. LALIQUE GLASS CENTERPIECE CANDELABRUM FAIS R. Lalique glass dual centerpiece and candelabrum. "Faisans", (pheasants), created / designed 1942. No. 2125bis in Marcilhac.

Measurements: 5 1/2 inches high; 12 1/4 inches accross neighbouring ends, 15 7/8 inches (40.2cm) accross diagonal side. Weighs ...lbs.

Made of clear and tinted sepia glass with brass metal inserts for the candlesticks. Very solid and the design echoes and reinforces the sturdy aspect of the design, with the clear glass giving the opposite, ephemeral effect. Alternating with backwards arching bands that support the candlesticks, are 4 quarters of a circular band, each moulded with a spectacular pheasant - birds that were clearly a favourate of Rene Lalique's. The modelling is in very high relief with fabulous detail combining realism with abstract design. Very pleasing to the eye. The birds are further enhanced with a pinkish - brown patina.

Engraved signature R. Laliqe France.

4170

R. LALIQUE 1914 PLATE CHASSE CHIENS - DOG HUN Antique glass and enamel plate by Rene Lalique. "Chasse, Chiens" - dog chase, designed France in 1914.

Measures slightly under 8-1/2 inches (21.6 cm) diameter.

Made of clear glass with tan / sepia tones and pearly iridescence in the carved out sections.
The border of the dish is decorated with an intaglio ring of pheasants and foliage. Elongated birds in pairs, long necks stretched out and bending towards each other, alternating with branches overlaid on each other.

Almost the entire surface of the bowl of the plate is covered in a rounded triangle of foliage, each section featuring a pair of hounds. The bodies of the dogs are fantastically modelled and the glass is pearly iridescent, adding a shimmer to their short coats. They are surrounded by detailed foliage, overlapping in a style typical of the Arts and Crafts Tradition. The center of the design consists of negative space, cleverly forming a Fleur de Lis.

Fabulous detail to the dogs and leaves. The design works on both a figurative and abstract level. Interest is added by the strong contrast between the textured coloured sections, the clear glass and the iridescence.

There is an engraved R. LALIQUE signature.

Condition: no chips/cracks/damage. Minor surface wear, commensurate with age.

This plate is #3001 in Marcilhac and guarranteed to be genuine R. Lalique. Marcilhac informs us that this glass and enamel plate (assiette) appear in the catalogues of 1928, 1932 and 1937 and was discontinued after 1947.

4024

MT WASHINGTON CROWN MILANO GLASS HUMIDOR COOK Antique Crown Milano glass humidor / biscuit barrel or cookie jar with silver plate lid. Made by Mount Washington in the USA, circa 1880's to 1890's.

Measures approx 9 inches to the top of the butterfly; just over 6 inches to the top of the glass rim.

Sold to me as a humidor, this exact shape, but with a very simple lid, is shown on page 65 of B Sisk's book on Mt Washington Art Glass, where it is referred to as a Webb (who had permission to make Burmese glass from the Mt. Washington factory), biscuit barrel. Further examples of the same shape, (different glass) are shown in the section on Royal Flemish glass.

The ground colour is yellow throughout, very pale at the bottom, darkening towards the top. The inside is glossy white. The rim has a ring of pink 'jewels'. THe surface of the jar is very beautifully hand painted with fernlike foliage and tiny flowers. Delicate lines and very subtle colours in a wide variety of gentle tones.

The unmarked silver plate lid is gorgeous: round and domed, with a detailed tobacco leaf on top of the dome. On top of the leaf is a finial on which a butterfly is perched. Sturdy outspread wings make it easy to lift and hold the lid.

There are no marks on either the humidor or the lid.

Condition is very good. Very negligible roughage from the lid on the rim, mentioned only for the sake of total accuracy.

4023

MT WASHINGTON CROWN MILANO GLASS CRACKER JAR Antique Crown Milano glass and silver plate biscuit barrel or cracker jar made by the Mount Washington factory circa 1880 - 90's in New Bedford, Mass.

6 3/4 inches high, excluding the lid. Approx 8 inches to the top of the finial.

Barrel shaped. Glass is typical Burmese with shades of yellow on the bottom half, pinks and salmons on the upper half. The combination of colours is particularly pleasing in this example. It is further hand decorated with beautifully outlined oak leaves and acorns on delicate, curving twiggs. Metallic colours in gorgeous tones of silver, gold and bronze. Beautiful raised detail.

The silver plated neck and matching lid both have a ring of flowers alternating with s-curves. A wide variety of flowers, as can partly be seen in the 'photos in fine detail. Sturdy handle.

This exact model, with identical neck, lid and handle, is shown more than once in the book on Mt. Washington glass by B Sisk. There is no factory mark visible, but there is no doubt about the origin of this magnificent piece.

Very good condition.

3 1/2 inches high, excluding handle or finial. Approx 4 1/4 inches accross widest part.

Marvellous sea blue / turquoise inside layer of glass. Encircled approx 3/4 the way around, by a frieze of white carved coral flowers, twigs, buds and foliage.
