CHINESE DOUBLE GOURD BOTTLE VASE SILVER LID Antique Chinese blue and white double gourd bottle vase with Dutch silver lid/cover. Made 19th century. <P><P>
Height including the silver top is almost 8 inches; porcelain alone is 6 1/4 inches high. <P><P>
Very elegant double gourd shape. The surface is exquisitely painted with anemones, fish and insects. Great tonality and range of blues on the white ground. Very fine painting.<P><P>
The admiration of this vase over 100 years ago was indicated by the beautiful Dutch silver cap. Deep scallopes on the bottom fit over the top fo the bottle. A wide tyre-shape under arched steps lead to an onion shaped dome, engraved with foliage. The lid is hallmarked with the Dutch silver mark and an A under a star. The silver has a few dings and dents, but nothing to detract from it's beauty. (see 'photos).<P><P>
A feather or leaf is painted in blue on the bottom.<P><P>

ANTIQUE 1700'S CHINESE CERAMIC WATER POT GREE Earthenware, green glazed water pot. Made in China, 18th century. <P><P>
Measures 7 3/4 inches tall and approx 5 3/4 inches accross. <P><P>
Hexagonal form with deep crevaces at the join of each facet. Gabled / stirrup ridge on top forms handle. Short spout. Small, round opening on lid with fitted, shaped stopper. <br>
Most of the surface is glazed in an emerald green colour - highly attractive. The bottom rim, about 1/4 inch (1cm approx) was left unglazed altogether and the border adjacent to this is a very deep, almost black shade. <P><P>

ANTIQUE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE VASE - 18 C Antique Chinese blue and white vase. Ch'ien Lung 1736-1795. <P><P>
Measures 7 1/2 inches high (19cm). <P><P>
Flask shape - pear shaped front and back,with narrower sides. High, round base, long, tubular neck flaring out at the top. <P><P>
The entire outer surface between base and neck is beautifully painted with vignettes of children at play, doing gymnastics, in groups and alone, amidst beautiful natural scenes of flowers and gardens with birds and dragonflies adding subtle interest. Lovely tonality in the shades of blue - from palest to darkest tones. Great sensitivity and contrasts to the brush strokes. <P><P>
Ch'ing Dynasty six character mark although this actually dates to a later period ie Ch'ien Lung 1736-1795.
Good condition, especially considering the age. <P><P>

ANTIQUE CHINESE PORCELAIN VASE w LONG NECK Antique polychrome enamel handpainted vase. Made in China Kuang Hsu era 1874-1908. <P><P>
Measures 12 1/4 inches tall. (31cm) <P><P>
Round base almost hidden by the full, round body. Elongated neck. Off white ground with many coloured enamel decoration in blues, red, greens and yellow. Beautiful flowers, Chinese geometric and naturalistic patterns as well as birds and insects cover the entire surface. The bulbous part of the body is a frieze of various birds in pairs. <P><P>
Ming Dynasty six character mark - the Chinese often copied these marks at later dates.<P><P>
Good condition. No chips/cracks/restoration.<P><P>

ANTIQUE HP NIPPON VASE GILDED & ENAMEL JEWELS Antique vase, made in Japan 1891 - 1921, when the name Nippon was in use.<P><P>
Measures 7 1/4 inches high.<P><P>
Stands on 4 richly gilded paw feet, arching gently to the knees. Ovoid shaped body with a pastel, pale blue ground, narrows at the neck and flares out on the upper rim, which is moulded like fabric, square shaped, at an opposing angle to the vase, with gently scalloped edges and gilded, jeweled edges. Beautifully handles on either side - like a flipping tail, arching back and upwards. <P><P>
The small neck has a dark brown ground with a continuous key pattern in gold on it. The entire surface of the vase is wonderfully and very richly decorated with jewels - both gilded and enamelled. Each of the 4 sides has an enclosed reserve with handpainted roses, the front and back with raised gold outlines to the flowers and foliage. Fabulous quality.<P><P>
Green Nippon mark on the bottom. <P><P>

ANTIQUE NIPPON HANDPAINTED GILDED ASPARAGUS B Antique handpainted and gilded Nippon asparagus bowl / dish. Made in Japan, very early 1900's. <P><P>
Measures 11 3/4 inches long; 8 inches wide and just under 3 inches to top of handles. <P><P>
Dish has unusual base, with the bottom walls forming a wavy based support. Curved rectangle, dipping on either side to fascilitate a pair of handles, each moulded as a bent twig with 3-petalled ends. Rich gilding all along the borders and handles.<br>
The ground colour ranges from pale to sunbright yellow through red-orange tan and brown. A bunch of asparagus is painted on the surface, one of them seems to have rolled away from the bunch. Colours are pink, purple, yellow and green with brown shades. <P><P>
Underneath is the earliest green Nippon mark of an M in a wreath, used from 1911. <P><P>
Good condition. No chips/cracks/restoration. Negligible gilt loss on edge of rim, mentioned only for the sake of accuracy.

NIPPON MORIAGE HP FLOWERS JEWELED ENAMEL VASE Antique Nippon moriage vase with handpainted flowers and applied turquoise jewels.
Measures approx 6 1/4 inches high.
Full, round body with 4 cartouche reserves, each beautifully handpainted with a boquet of

flowers. A pair of handles on either side of the vase. Richly enamelled around the floral

reserves and the ground entirely covered with small pale green and larger turquoise jewels. The

latter exactly like Coalport jeweled porcelain. Rich enamelling on the neck and base.
No marks to be seen.
Excellent condtion - no chips/cracks/damage/repairs.

JAPANESE KUTANI PORCELAIN COVERED BOX C1900 Japanese Kutani porcelain covered box. Made circa 1900.
Measures 4inches in diameter.
Red ground with gilded and enamelled flowers and clouds in green, yellow and pink. Nice detail.
Good condition - no damage of any sort.

CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CUP SAUCER C1820 FIGURES Chinese Famille Rose cup and saucer in the Mandarin palette, made circa 1820.
Saucer is almost 5 1/4inches in diameter; cup is 2 5/8inches high.
Saucer with high sloping sides, almost like a bowl (to facilitate drinking directly from the saucer as was common at the time).
Profuse enamel painting covers both cup and saucer. Borders of flowers with various Chinese symbols and caligraphy enclose figural scenes: Soldiers and servants in a palace, a woman admiring the landscape view; men sitting under a tree flanking a large bowl of fish; people strolling and sitting in landscapes.
Condition is very good. Considering the age and delicacy of the pieces, there is very little wear. There are 2 tiny fleabit chips on the rim of the saucer, magnified in the photos.

JAPANESE IMARI FIGURE HOTEI GOD CONTENTMENT Signed figural Japanese Imari Hotei / god of contentment.
5 1/2inches high, 6 inches accross sides.
Fabulous quality modelling and enamel work. The deity is sitting, robes falling open to reveal

large hairy stomache, a gilded fan in one hand. Open mouth with finely detailed teeth and tongue.

Fabulous quality enamel work. Great facial expression.
Signed underneath.

NIPPON H PAINTED WEDGWOOD JASPER CUP SAUCER A good hand painted Nippon cup and saucer with "Wedgwood" decoration. Japan, late 19th century.
Saucer measures 5 5/8inches in diameter. Cup is 2inches high.
The ground is pale blue, very fine porcelain, glazed inside. Fine enough for light to shine through it. Hand painted / sculpted spriggs of flowers and butterflies, resemble Wedgwood jasperware, but shaded to show depth in a sculptural way. Dark brown borders to both pieces. Handle of cup has small applied 'spines'.
Bottom of saucer has a green mark with Mnt Fuji, HAND PAINTED and JAPAN.
Condition is very good. No chips/cracks. There is one tiny white spot on the saucer, but this is not damage (see photos).

JAPANESE FIGURE OF FISHERMAN ORIENTAL mid19C From an old estate, a polychrome oriental figure of a fisherman faux ivory / bone. Japanese, dating to approx 1950-60's.
10 1/2inches high.
Smiling Japanese fisherman with hat slung on his back, basket at his side and fish on a pole over one shoulder, another in his other hand. Tugs at his beard, indicating happy wisdom.

MEIJI PERIOD JAR & LID W DOUBLE PEACH FINIAL Japanese Meiji (late 19th century ) period jar and lid with double peach finial and beautiful enamel work. <P><P> Measures: 6 1/4" to top of finial. Diameter is 4 1/2". <P><P> Cylindrical shaped body. Very fine enamel work decorates both jar and lid. Colours are delicate and there is very pretty detail to the petals and leaves. The top of the lid has a wonderfully moulded double peach finial, the leaves are almost spider like in their delicacy. <P><P> Condition:overall condition is extremely good. There is one small chip on the lid and a minute one on the rim, entirely hidden by the lid. Enamel and finial are in very good shape.<P><P>
