ANTIQUE AMERICAN CUT GLASS DECANTER / CLARET Antique American cut glass wine jug / claret decanter or ewer. Made about 100 years ago in the USA. <P><P>
Measures approx 10 3/4 inches to the top of the stopper or 8 3/4 inches to the top of the spout. Very heavy - weighs over 1.7klg (1700-1750 grams).<P><P>
Very full round body, narrowing to an elegant neck and wide, scalloped, sloping, spout. Broad, sturdy handle. <br>
The round bottom is very intricately cut in a variety of patterns, ranging from deep, broad boarder cuts to fine geometric lines forming a variety of stars, triangles and fans. The petal shaped facets leading up the neck are seperated with small diamond-shaped cuts and the area between neck and spout is again cut with a variety of deeper and finer lines forming geometric patterns. <br>
Spout has a lovely sloping, scalloped shape -generous and pretty. The applied handle is also cut as is the stopper. The bottom has a very fine starburst, consisting of no less than 24 double-sided cut rays.<P><P>
The only mark I found is an engraved 35 on the bottom of the stopper.<P><P>
The decanter has a wonderful sparkle and shines beautifully as the light catches the different angles. Wonderful quality expressed in the broad width of the glass (over 1/4 inch, as measured on the top rim). <P><P>
Very good condition. I did not find chips/cracks.

Measurements: 9 inches high. 7 3/4 inches wide at top, not including the handles which extend further. <P><P>
Made of incredible quality crystal glass. The bottom is close on an inch thick. The handles are the height of understated luxury - again the best quality gilt bronze, signed on either side with the Baccarat mark. Glass is also signed in the center, underneath the bucket - acid-etched signature can be seen through the top of the glass.<P><P>
Very good condition: no chips/cracks/damage of any sort.<P><P>
