FRENCH VICTORIAN PAINTING PORTRAIT WOMAN RED
French Victorian oil on canvas painted portrait of a young woman in a red hat. France, 19th century.<br><br>
Rectangular frame measures 14 1/2inches X 16 3/4 inches. Painting itself is seen through an oval 8 3/4 X 11 inches, but is actually done on a rectangular canvas.<br><br>
The painting depicts a young woman wearing a white shawl over her shoulders, a black necklace around her neck and long gold earrings - typcically Victorian in style. She also wears a stunning red hat with a huge bow in the front and at the back is more of the white soft cloth that makes her shawl. Her hair is a deep, rich auburn (reddish - brown). She has full, red lips, a wonderful complexion and a fabulous expression of a strong and beautiful woman. The portrait is much more than just another pretty face, but shows a woman of character and class. The mottled green and brown background sets of the red of her hat, peachy cheeks and mouth very successfully. The artist is clearly highly accomplished and professional. His name was printed on a gold lable on the front of the painting, but has, unfortunately, largely disappeared, so we do not know who he/she was. Clearly, a highly proficient artist. <br><br>
The frame and gold surround are not in good condition. They are original to the painting and have various losses / cracks - see photos. The painting itself IS in good condition and is protected under glass. <br><br>
All 'photos were taken through the glass, so bear with the slight reflections and play of light.

Antique / vintage oil painting depicting Venice and the sea with ships and boats in front of architecturally Classical buildings. The painting is signed by the artist, but there is some paint loss exactly over the signature (and nowhere else). <br><br>

Very fine painting by superior artist. Done on metal. Wonderful detail - from the minute people who populate the town to those working on the boats and sailing ships. A variety of Mediterranean trees add colour to the town, almost bleached white and red in the sun. Fabulous treatment of the sky. Light blues of sky and sea make this a particularly attractive painting. <br><br>
Painting is signed, but we cannot read the signature. <br><br>
Besides the loss of paint over the signature, the painting is in very good condition with no damage / losses / restoration.

Painting of a number of sailing ships, looking very fierce, if bedraggled, at day's end. Huge clouds in a darkening sky. One of the ships appears to be on fire. Men in a row boat,highlighted in red by the sun's dieing rays, row away from it. The top of the mast of a sunken ship appears in the foreground. Choppy seas. painted on copper, which is very slightly buckled.
Signed lower left James Webb. Probably can do with a good cleaning.

JUDAICA SIGNED LITHOGRAPH MYSTICAL KABBALA
Signed and numbered mystical, Kabbalistic Judaica lithograph by well-known artist Batya Apollo, with real gold background. Very limited number made and even less available world-wide. <br><br>
The coloured portion measures approx 16 1/4 X 11 1/2 inches, including the writing in Hebrew around the picture. This does not include the signature, number or watermark, or the border.<br><br>
The picture consists of a very intricate floral design with flowers, fruit and foliage intertwining througout in bright colours on a real (24K) gold leaf ground. In the center is a double foliate circle enclosing a phrase in Hebrew, which in turn encloses a blue MIZRACH. Above this are a pair of lions (male and female) flanking a purple and gold crown with Bet and Hey (Be'ezrat Ha'Shem) around it. A wonderfully detailed pair of birds and a Hand of Fatima (Chamsa - against the evil eye) containing G-d's name are more of the wonderful details. Each corner has part of the date, whether the Hebrew or Gregorian and the whole is surrounded by Psalms.
The lithograph is hand signed and numbered by the artist. <br><br>Condition is mint.<br><br>
The lithograph is professionally framed and enclosed in a special museum quality paper that is acid free and will guarrantee to last forever instead of causing brown marks and discoloration on this beautiful work. <br><br>

ORIGL WC PAINTING SPANIEL DOGS LISTED R PARIS
Original painting in water color by well known and listed artist Rene Paris (born 1881, France and winner of many prestigeous French art prizes / awards).
The painting is in a frame, measuring 25 X 20 inches. Site measurements of painting is 18 X 13 inches.
The painting depicts a pair of russet / red coloured Cocker Spaniels. One seated, the other, showing off her beautiful lines, playfully trying to provoke him to play. You can almost feel the stubby tail wag and the excitement of the dog, while the other sits obediently. The artist, Rene paris was a famous animalier/animal sculptor and his sensitivity to the animals is clearly shown in this fabulous painting. Masterful brushwork and drawing. Investment quality art.

Oil on canvas by well known Israeli artist Varodi Joseftal depicting a woman asleep / reading in an interior. Measures approximately 11 1/4 X 11 1/2inches (sight) and frame is 16 1/2inches X 16 1/2inches.
Nude sits in front of a window, in a room full of brightly coloured and richly patterned fabrics, plants and patterns, forming an almost abstract design. Freely painted despite the attention to detail - such as the necklace around her neck and flowers in her hair. A serene expression on her face. The figure painted in broad, easy strokes, complemented by the busyness of her surroundings hints at a rich inner world.

Sea and Landscape watercolour: A rocky cliff is pounded by waves. In the center, a pool of water overflows in a waterfall back to the sea. Sandy beach on the right with the water gradually lapping up onto the shore on the left foreground. On top of the cliff, a hiker with a long stick and wearing a hat and knapsack strides away from the viewer. On his right, he is carefully watched by a goat, partially hidden by the grass and scrub. Gentle clouds in the sky.
<br> Detail and brushwork of the painting are fantastic. The sea seems to be alive and like the real thing, is depicted in every shade of blue, green and yellow and seems to emanate light. By contrast, the rocks feel very solid. Also wonderfully painted, with pencil highlights. The sky ranges from pinks to blues and purples - quite beautifully done. Masterful combination of delicacy and sureness of technique. <br>
Painting is clearly signed lower right.
On the back of the painting is an old red wax seal with embossed: VENTE ROSA BONHEUR 1900<br>
Condition is very good. No damage/restorations of any sort. <br>

Judaica: Original oil painting by well listed Israeli artist, Oded Feingersh, of the hills leading up to the City of David / Old City, Jerusalem. Oil on canvas.
Measures approx 19 X 19 1/4 inches (sight) and frame is 25 X 25 1/4 inches.
Oded Feingersh was well known as the 'King of Israeli Pop Art' and the bright colours and bold use of broad areas of contrasting bright colours is evident in this work, which depicts one of the most classic of all Judaica subjects. Despite the almost abstract quality of much of the work, it comes together very clearly as the hills below the Old City and the depiction of the walls and towers is very delicately and finely painted.
Signed lower right in Hebrew.
This beautiful work is framed in a gold wood frame. Both painting and frame are in good condition.

OLD FRENCH SCHOOL OIL PAINTING ARTIST AT WORK
Great little painting in oil on board. Artist signed. Comes in wonderful original gilt wood
frame.
Almost certainly French, looks old, but exact age unknown.
Painting measures 5 X 6 3/4 inches. Frame is a little under 9inches wide and 11 1/2inches high.
Painting depicts a black-suited, bearded man, white cravat tied in a bow around his neck, and
wearing a black beret. His arms are stretched out towards a music or artists' stand - it is
unclear whether he is playing the piano or painting, but by the deeply sensitive and engrossed
expression on his face, we know that he is absorbed in his art. Behind him are a number of
curtains.
The frame is gilt wood, beautifully carved with flowers and scrolls in 2 levels.
The painting is signed lower left. The signature appears to be A. MAHVE.
The quality of the painting is extremely good and is the work of a professional artist.
Condition of painting and frame is good.

Vintage original watercolour painting of a wine factory / distributor / winery the FAIRVIEW WINE CORP.
Comes in original wooden frame that measures 17 1/4 X 9 1/2inches. The painting measures (sight) 12 X 4 inches.
This was an actual building of an actual winery in Maine.
A long red building with red and white shades and a large model of a bottle of wine or beer on the roof. There are a number of signs that all read: FAIRVIEW WINE CORP or Home of Fairview Wines.
Since the back is covered, any further information cannot be seen (unless the paper is torn away).
The frame has a number of scratches, but the painting, under glass, is in excelent condition.

PAINTING OIL ON BOARD EARLY AMERICAN PORTRAIT
Early American oil painting on board. Portrait of an early Colonial woman.
Painting measures 8 1/2inches wide and 10 1/2inches long. Comes in ornate Rococco style frame, possibly original, measures 14 1/2 X 16 1/2inches.
Sitter wearing dark dress. Good quality fabric and expensive pleats with little ruffled lacy collar and pink ribbon around her neck contrast beautifully with the austerity of the dress. The soft pink and white are beautifully echoed in her complexion. Wide penetrating eyes and soft silky hair, wonderfully depicted with tremendous sensitivity.
No visible signature, but artist of great quality and proficiency.
Condition is very good.
Frame richly adorned with raised flowers, scrolls and shells in undulating, lobed raised form.

ART DECO AESTHETIC TILE SIGNED FRITZ HUDLER
Hand painted tile made and signed by Art Deco Aesthetic Movement artist Fritz Hudler c1930.
Measures 6inches square.
Tile depicts a beautiful youth with curly golden hair, dressed in a brown roll-necked top - perhaps hinting at a monk or saint. Both hands raised. On one finger perches a little bird - quite unafraid. The mysterious downward look of the man may hint at mysticism and religion. Sensuous lips and long, tapering fingers, sinuous neck and gentle curving branch with delicate leaves. Glaze back and front of tile.
Signed lower left FH.
Condition is very good.
It has been suggested that the portrait represents St Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals and birds. I agree and thanks the emailer.
