ANTIQUE FRENCH FAIENCE ENAMEL LONGWY PLATES Antique pair of enamel faience plates. Made in France by the Longway factory 1880-1920. <P><P>
9 inches diameter. <P><P>
Round plates with scalloped shaped borders. Each plate is very richly enamelled in typical Longwy style, with a hummingbird in the center, surrounded by branches,

blossoms and berries in the Japanese taste, very popular with the French during the late 19th century, Art Nouveau period. <P><P>
The borders and shoulders of the plates have a rich floral design with an emphasis on the colour turquoise. However, pinks, deep blues, reds, greens, orange, red and

yellow in bright profusion with brown outline for the foliage and twigs. The centers of each plate, crazed in typical Longwy faience fashion, depict a bird on a

branch. One is Spring - the bird flutters down to a blowwom branch; the other autumn (fall), with the bird perching on a branch full of berries. <P><P>
The design and colours are spectacular and the birds, both in various shades of blue, cream and yellow, very beatifully depicted. The sensitivity of Japonism is seen

in the branches, blossoms and berries. <P><P>
Each plate is very fully marked with marks used from the 1870's: A large round grey mark with the Longwy crest and crown in the center and the words EMAUX DE LONGWY

in a band near the bottom. Underneath is the word FRANCE, alone. THe Cross of Lorraine fills in the background. <br>
An impressed circle with LONGWY, various numerals (388?) and various other symbols, not all entirely legible. <br>
The top has a rectangle with F-4 D-5669 and C-83 / 24(on one). Both have 16 in a smaller rectangle and one a clear 66, the other illegible. Presumably, these refer

to pattern, design, models and artists. <br>
Some other marks, impressed or written also appear. <P><P>
Condition of both plates is good. No chips/cracks/damage. The usual crazing that is normal and to be expected on Longwy faience.

VINTAGE LE TALLEC FRANCE CHINOISERIE PORCELAI Vintage oval porcelain handpainted box. Made by Le Tallec, who sold most of these pieces via Tiffany & Co in America. <P><P>
Measures slightly under 5 inches tall. Approx 3 3/4 inches accross.<P><P>
Flattened, oval shape. Gilt metal mounts around rims with French Empire style bow-ed thumbpiece for opening. Hinged lid. <P><P>
Black ground with two pale Sevres blue bands, bordered by gold. Chinoiserie painting in the form of a pagoda in gold as well as urns and Oriental style trees/flowers. Exotic birds in bright colours are beautifully painted. <P><P>
The box is very tastefully done in the best Le Tallec tradition - combining great porcelain with wonderful handpainting. Most of their luxurious items were retailed by Tiffany & Co. - an indication of the quality of product they produced.<P><P>
The box is marked underneath in iron red, handwriting as well as the pale blue, often found on their pieces. See 'photos for full script.<P><P>
Condition is good with no chips/cracks. There are a few flecks of black paint missing on the lid, shown magnified in the 'photos.

ANTIQUE DECO LONGWY BOX - FRENCH ENAMEL IN JA Antique/vintage Art Deco period large Longwy box with lid in the Japanese taste. Made in France, circa 1920 - 30's. <P><P>
Approx 6 3/4 inches accross and 2 1/2 inches high. <P><P>
Hexagonal box. Each corner is canted and decorated with a deep blue strip. The top of the side has a moulded ledge for the lid to fit onto. The indside of the box and lid are both turquoise. The outside of the lid and sides of the bottom are decorated with classic Longwy bright colours in a Japanese influenced design. The ground is bright blue and is very richly covered in branches, foliage and flowers in deep, bright enameled shades. Enamelling, especially the ruby-red centers of the flowers is almost jewel-like. Flowing branches echo the Arts and Crafts movement. <P><P>
Bottom of box has hand-written T.3090 in black ink; an impressed 2, a large Longwy factory mark and Made in France, which dates it to post 1924. <P><P>
Very good condition. Crazing as is to be expected on all Longwy pottery. No chips/cracks/restoration of any sort.

ANTIQUE OLD PARIS JEWELRY BOX SEVRES Antique porcelain jewellery dresser or trinket box, made in Paris, France 19th century. <P><P>
Measures 8 1/4 inches long. Total height is approx 3 1/4 inches. <P><P>
Rectangular lidded box. Lid extends over side of the box. ROunded corners and slight dome of lid with rectangular finial with moulded foliage joining it to lid. The

entire outer surface is handpainted with pink roses, blue ribbons and delicate gold scrolls and foliage. The pattern is very typical of old Sevres porcelain. The

inside has two shaped porcelain partitions which divide the box into sectioins for holding different items. <P><P>
The only marks seem to be an impressed 2 and impressed 111. <P><P>
Good condition with no chips/cracks/damage/restoration. There is minor gilt loss commensurate with age.

ANTIQUE FRENCH PATE SUR PATE BOX W PORTRAIT Antique French pate sur pate porcelain footed box. Made Limoges, in the best Sevres style, early 20th century. <P><P>
Measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 inches high. <P><P>
Box stands are 3 curving legs, shaped like dolphins, richly gilded. The colour scheme of the box is gold and white - white ground with delicate gold patterns and wider gilded borders to rims. In the center of the lid is a round reserve, encircled with raised 'jeweled' or beaded gold orbs, encircling a soft green-grey ground with a pate sur pate miniature portrait of a woman seen in profile. Porcelain and decoration are of very good quality. <P><P>
Marked under the box with an N in a roped circular border with Limoges France in the circle. Handwritten underneath in red is N or V.552. The lid has a hand engraved mark that is very difficult to see, let alone photograph. It looks like
Jalers or Jalen Limoges, but the first letter could be an F. <P><P>
Very good condition. No chips/cracks/restorations.

ANTIQUE OLD PARIS GILDED CUP SAUCER HP CUPID Antique Old Paris cup and saucer with a handpainted vignette of mythological figures. Made in Paris, France, early 19th century. <P><P>
Cup is 3 1/4 inches tall. Saucer is almost 5 1/2 inches in diameter. <P><P>
Both cup and saucer have wonderful gilding covering a large part of the surface, including the inside of the cup. The gilding is embellished with a very refined

pattern of flowers and foliage with the gilt. This must have been a very sophisticated technique as heating the gold was a complicated matter. It also indicates that

this cup and saucer were intended to be particularly lavish and luxurious. <P>
The cup is elegant and narrow and typical of the Napoleonic era and similar cups from 1815 can be seen. The handle has a moulded white flower within the upper

scroll, above which is a gilded, moulded embellishment, that looks partially like a cornucopia and partially like the helmet of a Roman warrior. The front of the

cup has a wide reserve with a polychrom handpainted scene with characters from Classic mythology. A goddess playing with Cupid, lifts his quiver high in the air.

Beautifully painted trees around them. The whole is clearly done by a highly competent artist and is most charming in character and execution. <P><P>
Like most Old Paris porcelain, there are no marks under the cup/saucer. <P><P>
Both cup and saucer are in very good condition. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort. Very minor gilt loss.

ANTIQUE FRENCH PLATE STILL LIFE PAINTING 19th century, French, Sevres or Limoges handpainted plate with a still life of fish, flowers and fruit.
8 7/8inches in diam.
Gently scalloped border with gilt rim. Band of chocolate brown along the border with sprays of flowers - each masterfully painted. Pink, blue, yellow and

green, very fine detail.
The center of the plate has a fabulous still life featuring all the ingredients for a gourmet elegant meal: two fish, a leafy cabbage/lettuce, lemons,

parsely, chestnuts and strawberries in the background. Everything needed to make a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful painting. Simply

doesn't get better than this.
No known marks. A painted 5 underglaze and impressed mark. Quality is excellent. No damage of any sort.

RENE BUTHAUD HANDPAINTED TRAY FRANCE ART DECO Art Deco ceramic tray potted and handpainted by French ceramicist Rene Buthaud, early 20th century. <br>
Measures 15 1/2inches long; between 9 1/4 and 9 1/2inches wide. <br>
Rounded rectangular shape with applied snaking, scrolling border. Background is mottled bordeaux (bright pinkish red, much like the wine). The entire bowl of the tray is handpainted with a scene of a reclining woman asleep in long grass. hints of clouds flying by in a blue sky. <br>
Painted initials RB on the back.<br>
Condition is good. There are a few shallow kiln cracks, one on the outside of the rim, some on the back, none on the painted area/front of the tray (and therefore do not detract from the tray in any way).

LONGWY FAIENCE TEAPOT SUGAR CREAMER PLATE Emaux de Longwy: French enamel pottery faience teapot, sugar, creamer and plate. Made in France early 20th century.
Teapot is approx 5 1/4inches high. Full, round body, with bright blue handle. Double handled, lided sugar basin is 3 1/2inches high and also has a round shape. Milk jug / creamer is 2 1/4 inches high and plate is 6inches in diameter.
Fabulous raised enamel in pinks, red and green on bright turquoise ground. Handles and finials are blue with pink rings around the rims of finials. Design shows very strong Japanese influence and depicts blossoms and branches. Enamelling is almost jewel-like in quality.
Each piece is marked with Longwy mark used 1920-40 and impressed round mark.
Condition is excellent. No chips/cracks/damage of any sort.

OLD PARIS CUP SAUCER PARROTS PALMS EARLY 1800 Porcelain cup and saucer made in Paris, early 19th century or before, during the height of the fascination with Oriental and Egyptian motives.
Saucer is 5 5/8inches accross.Cup is 2 1/4inches high.
Pale lavendar background with a pattern of handpainted Palm trees and medallions encircling brightly coloured parrots. Fabulous painting and colours. Influence of China and Japan can be seen in the small plants under the Palms, while the Palms and parrots were both considered representative of the newly discovered Egyption antiquities by the French during Napoleon's reign.
Gold borders.
There is some wear to the gilding, commensurate with the age, but there is no damage of any sort.

PR FRENCH ART POTTERY VASES W GOLD OVERLAY Pair of matte art pottery vases with Art Nouveau pierced gilt metal overlay. Made in France late 19th - early 20th century.
Each vase measures 5 inches tall.
Beautiful mottled colouring is not identical in the vases. One has shades of blue and green while the other is green and brown/yellow. Inside the former is deep sea blue with a mottled mustard/brown, while the other vase inside is a pearly combination ranging from cream to green.
Tubular shape widening to a knop and ring-like handles on either side. The entire upper portion of both vases has a wonderful gilt metal openwork overlay, joining seamlessly with the richly gilded handles. There is some dirt on the gilding of one of the vases, but otherwise excellent condition.
There is a raised 43 underneath each vase, but no factory name.
No chips/cracks.

LIMOGES ARTIST SIGNED HANDPAINTED PORCEL BOWL Porcelain bowl hand painted and artist signed M Yose, made by the Castel company, Limoges, France.
Measures 6 1/2inches accross and 1 1/4inches high.
Slightly fluted bowl with curling rim, richly gilded on the top. The inside of the bowl is beautifully painted with flowers and signed by the artist, M Yose.
Underneath is fully marked for the CASTEL porcelain company.
Condition is mint. No damage/losses of any sort.

PARIS SEVRES PAIR BLACK VASES HP FLOWERS 19C Outstanding pair of vases made in France by Sevres or related Old Paris factory, 19th century.
Just under 11inches high and width of base is 3 1/4inch.
Square gilded bases with urn shaped vases. Scrolling handles beginning with spear shaped leaves are entirely gilded except for the moulded sun faces inside the scrolls.
Black ground covered in a host of tiny gold and white flowers. The biggest area of both front and back of each vase is handpainted with a magnificent floral still life. Roses, daffodils, morning glory, anemone, blue cornflowers etc. This is outstanding painting of the highest quality.
General good condition with a fair amount of wear to the gilding.

19C OLD PARIS HANDPAINTED PORTRAIT JARDINIERE Miniature portrait on Old Paris porcelain, made in 19th century France. <P><P> Measures 4" high. <P><P> Cylindrical in form. Pale pink/salmon colour. Central medallion surrounded by gold and green borders and fleur de lis. Inside is portrait of a French noblewoman or court beauty, wearing the royal colours of yellow and purple. Very French features and attire. Very finely painted detail. <br> Stands on 3 gilded knob-shaped feet. <P><P> Condition: very good. No chips/cracks and paint is in very good shape. There is slight wear to the gilding - 2 spots on the back upper rim (unseen) and on the feet.

CHINOSERIE ENAMEL LIMOGES BOWLS COPY MEISSEN 19th Century bowls made in Limoges, France. Made to immitate Meissen. <P><P> Measurements:5 3/4" diam; 1 3/4" high. <P><P> Bowls handpainted in enamel depict Chinese figures, flowers and insects, very much in the style made famous by Meissen in the 18th century. Gilded rims. <P><P> Marks: Limoges mark:La Seynie; Limoges; *A-F*; France. Also crossed swords in the Meissen style, but red and handpainted over the glaze. Both bowls have also had the words "Made in France" added in enamel handwriting, possibly at a much later date. <P><P> Condition:very good. No chips/cracks of any sort. Enamel paint in very good shape; gilding on top has very minor wear.
