PRIMAVERA LONGWY ART DECO CERAMIC LIDDED BOX
Excellent example of French Art Deco enamelled ceramic art, lidded box signed Primavera Longwy and sold by the retailer Au Printemps in Paris in the 1920's. <P><P> Diameter is 3 1/2 inches. Height 1 3/4 inches. <P><P> Round box with hand enamel decorated top and sides. The top has a stylised landscape of a tree in a hilly background. Geometric symbolic leaves - round and shield-shaped, the latter could also represent birds on branches. Colours are brown, turquoise, green and white. <P> The sides of both top and bottom have a matching series of parallels of varying widths, in the same colours as the top.<P><P> Craqueleure surface. <P><P> Bottom is marked with a circular mark that has the word PRIMAVERA on the top, a crown and badge with foliage in it in the center and LONGWY FRANCE at the bottom. <P><P> Condition is good. Discoloring on the ridge of the bottom, which is hidden when the lid is on. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration to be found.

ANTIQUE FRENCH PLATE STILL LIFE PAINTING
19th century, French, Sevres or Limoges handpainted plate with a still life of fish, flowers and fruit. 8 7/8inches in diam. Gently scalloped border with gilt rim. Band of chocolate brown along the border with sprays of flowers - each masterfully painted. Pink, blue, yellow and
green, very fine detail. The center of the plate has a fabulous still life featuring all the ingredients for a gourmet elegant meal: two fish, a leafy cabbage/lettuce, lemons,
parsely, chestnuts and strawberries in the background. Everything needed to make a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful painting. Simply
doesn't get better than this. No known marks. A painted 5 underglaze and impressed mark. Quality is excellent. No damage of any sort.

ST CLEMENT FRANCE MAJOLICA ROOSTER PITCHER OL
Antique French majolica pitcher in the form of a rooster, made by St clement, France circa 1900. Measures 13 inches tall. Wonderfully modelled chicken with fabulous detail to the different kinds of feathers on his chest, back and tail, the scales and claws of his feet and the face with it's poppy eyes and bright red carbuncle. Wide open yellow beak forms the spout of the pitcher / jug and the upturned tail forms the handle. Colours are yellows, greens, blues, browns and oranges. Marvellous detail and fresh detail, only found in the older examples. Marked underneath with Impressed St Clement France mark and No. 7516. Good condition.

RENE BUTHAUD HANDPAINTED TRAY FRANCE ART DECO
Art Deco ceramic tray potted and handpainted by French ceramicist Rene Buthaud, early 20th century. <br> Measures 15 1/2inches long; between 9 1/4 and 9 1/2inches wide. <br> Rounded rectangular shape with applied snaking, scrolling border. Background is mottled bordeaux (bright pinkish red, much like the wine). The entire bowl of the tray is handpainted with a scene of a reclining woman asleep in long grass. hints of clouds flying by in a blue sky. <br> Painted initials RB on the back.<br> Condition is good. There are a few shallow kiln cracks, one on the outside of the rim, some on the back, none on the painted area/front of the tray (and therefore do not detract from the tray in any way).

LONGWY FAIENCE TEAPOT SUGAR CREAMER PLATE
Emaux de Longwy: French enamel pottery faience teapot, sugar, creamer and plate. Made in France early 20th century. Teapot is approx 5 1/4inches high. Full, round body, with bright blue handle. Double handled, lided sugar basin is 3 1/2inches high and also has a round shape. Milk jug / creamer is 2 1/4 inches high and plate is 6inches in diameter. Fabulous raised enamel in pinks, red and green on bright turquoise ground. Handles and finials are blue with pink rings around the rims of finials. Design shows very strong Japanese influence and depicts blossoms and branches. Enamelling is almost jewel-like in quality. Each piece is marked with Longwy mark used 1920-40 and impressed round mark. Condition is excellent. No chips/cracks/damage of any sort.

4 SEVRES PLATES COBALT GILT HP FRUIT 1848 SET
Set of 4 signed Sevres plates with handpainted fruit surrounded by cobalt blue borders enhanced by fine gilt decoration. Made in France, 1848. Diameter is 9 inches. Each plate has a beautifully handpainted still life of a fruit: pears, cherries, peach and grapes. Very fine brushstrokes and use of colour. The painting is surrounded by a fine border of gold and, within concentric gilded rings, blue sloping sides highlighted with a delicate gold pattern. Great quality gilding. Each plate has the green oval mark used after 1845, with the factory letter S and date numerals for 1848. There are various incised marks under each plate as well. Condition is very good. No chips/cracks/scratches.

OLD PARIS CUP SAUCER PARROTS PALMS EARLY 1800
Porcelain cup and saucer made in Paris, early 19th century or before, during the height of the fascination with Oriental and Egyptian motives. Saucer is 5 5/8inches accross.Cup is 2 1/4inches high. Pale lavendar background with a pattern of handpainted Palm trees and medallions encircling brightly coloured parrots. Fabulous painting and colours. Influence of China and Japan can be seen in the small plants under the Palms, while the Palms and parrots were both considered representative of the newly discovered Egyption antiquities by the French during Napoleon's reign. Gold borders. There is some wear to the gilding, commensurate with the age, but there is no damage of any sort.

PR FRENCH ART POTTERY VASES W GOLD OVERLAY
Pair of matte art pottery vases with Art Nouveau pierced gilt metal overlay. Made in France late 19th - early 20th century. Each vase measures 5 inches tall. Beautiful mottled colouring is not identical in the vases. One has shades of blue and green while the other is green and brown/yellow. Inside the former is deep sea blue with a mottled mustard/brown, while the other vase inside is a pearly combination ranging from cream to green. Tubular shape widening to a knop and ring-like handles on either side. The entire upper portion of both vases has a wonderful gilt metal openwork overlay, joining seamlessly with the richly gilded handles. There is some dirt on the gilding of one of the vases, but otherwise excellent condition. There is a raised 43 underneath each vase, but no factory name. No chips/cracks.

JACOB PETIT PORCELAIN TULIPIER FIGURE LADY 19
Figural tulipier vase for growing tulip flowers with a reading woman reclining amongst applied flowers in the Meissen style. Made by Jacob Petit, Paris, France early 19th century. Measures 9 1/8inches high and about 9 1/4inches accross. Scrolling base with typical rococo decoration in the form of scallops and daintilly painted flowers. There are 7 pink containers, each with a flower-form rim in rich gold for containing the tulips. In front of them, on a naturalistically moulded and painted mound, a reading woman reclines amidst applied delicate flowers and background modelled gilded foliage. Very fine painting of the various parts of her clothes. Underneath, the piece is marked with blue JP. Condition: generally excellent. There are 2 kiln cracks underneath the piece as well as broad crazing, limited to the bottom of the piece only. There are typical minor losses to the tiny applied flowers and very minor gilt losses to some of the pointy edges. Blacklight shows no other damage.

Porcelain bowl hand painted and artist signed M Yose, made by the Castel company, Limoges, France. Measures 6 1/2inches accross and 1 1/4inches high. Slightly fluted bowl with curling rim, richly gilded on the top. The inside of the bowl is beautifully painted with flowers and signed by the artist, M Yose. Underneath is fully marked for the CASTEL porcelain company. Condition is mint. No damage/losses of any sort.

PARIS SEVRES PAIR BLACK VASES HP FLOWERS 19C
Outstanding pair of vases made in France by Sevres or related Old Paris factory, 19th century. Just under 11inches high and width of base is 3 1/4inch. Square gilded bases with urn shaped vases. Scrolling handles beginning with spear shaped leaves are entirely gilded except for the moulded sun faces inside the scrolls. Black ground covered in a host of tiny gold and white flowers. The biggest area of both front and back of each vase is handpainted with a magnificent floral still life. Roses, daffodils, morning glory, anemone, blue cornflowers etc. This is outstanding painting of the highest quality. General good condition with a fair amount of wear to the gilding.

FRENCH RUSSIAN SOLDIERS ANGEL MAJOLICA PLATE
19th century French / Russian majolica plate, commemorating the Franco Russian War. 8 3/4inches diameter. Turquoise and olive green plate. Borders with geometric pattern. Bowl depicts a French and a Russian soldier shaking hands, a huge angel (of peace) with a laurel garland on her head placing a hand on each of their outstretched arms. Laurel wreaths along the border. Impressed mark FRANCO-RUSSE. Fine detail to uniforms, weapons, hats, feathers of the angel's wings. Marks include an impressed heart and brown x under the glaze. Condition is very good. No chips/cracks of any sort.

Miniature portrait on Old Paris porcelain, made in 19th century France. <P><P> Measures 4" high. <P><P> Cylindrical in form. Pale pink/salmon colour. Central medallion surrounded by gold and green borders and fleur de lis. Inside is portrait of a French noblewoman or court beauty, wearing the royal colours of yellow and purple. Very French features and attire. Very finely painted detail. <br> Stands on 3 gilded knob-shaped feet. <P><P> Condition: very good. No chips/cracks and paint is in very good shape. There is slight wear to the gilding - 2 spots on the back upper rim (unseen) and on the feet.

CHINOSERIE ENAMEL LIMOGES BOWLS COPY MEISSEN
19th Century bowls made in Limoges, France. Made to immitate Meissen. <P><P> Measurements:5 3/4" diam; 1 3/4" high. <P><P> Bowls handpainted in enamel depict Chinese figures, flowers and insects, very much in the style made famous by Meissen in the 18th century. Gilded rims. <P><P> Marks: Limoges mark:La Seynie; Limoges; *A-F*; France. Also crossed swords in the Meissen style, but red and handpainted over the glaze. Both bowls have also had the words "Made in France" added in enamel handwriting, possibly at a much later date. <P><P> Condition:very good. No chips/cracks of any sort. Enamel paint in very good shape; gilding on top has very minor wear.
