ANTIQUE PR OPALINE GLASS BOWLS PAINTED DOG FO
Antique pair of opaline glass bowls, each hand painted with a scene of little animals hunting innocents. Possibly French or English and date to 19th century - about 1880 - 1900.

Each bowl is 8 inches in diameter and 2 1/2 inches high.

Bowls each stand on 3 round, gilded feet. The borders are gilded and have a band of superb lilac, which looks very French. Another gold circle encloses the lilac band. Within the bowl is an exquisitely handpainted vignette of animals. In one scene a very naughty looking dog ( Dachshund by the looks of him), is about to pounce on a gaggle of ducklings, who flee to the water, beautifully painted in deep blue in the foreground. Flowers and foliage surround the animals.
In the other painting, a sly fox peeps through the long hay in front of which a group of bunnies is nibbling on large leaves in a little clearing. One rabbit with a stalk in his mouth seems to have just caught sight of the fox.
Details of both paintings are superb - clearly painted by a masterful artist. They are the height of Victorian cute combined with love of moral tales and very likely these paintings are depictions of a fable or moral story.

The bowls are in very good condition. Both paint and gilding look great. One bowl has a fleabight on the rim - so small I couldn't begin to measure it. No other chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort.

ANTIQUE STEVENS WILLIAMS ART GLASS VASE APPLI
Antique, Victorian art glass bowl / vase with applied fruit and flowers. Made in England by Stevens and Williams circa 1880's.

Measurements: almost 8 1/2 inches high; 11 inches accross the front and 4 inches front to back.

Narrow oval opaline glass forms the main body / bowl. Wonderful pearl quality with fine striations / variations which we attempted to show in the 'photos. Stands on 4 golden glass legs in a free, organic form that flows on either side into the handles and is echoed on the top rim by the ruffled border in the same glass, crimped in a tightly folded pattern. The front has applied glass fruit, flowers, stems and foliage. 3 applied strawberries in textured glass orange and red - look ready to be plucked and eaten. Strawberry blossoms are realistically modelled with great detail, as are the leaves with the fine central and striated veins wonderfully depicted.

Polished pontil underneath.

Very good condition considering the age and delicate nature of the glass. There is a line in the amethyst stem above the strawberry on the left hand side, which might be original to the manufacture. There are two green sepals broken off the strawberries - one from each of the left hand berries. No other damage/ restorations of any sort found.

Vintage art glass paperweight. Made in Bohemia (now Czech Republic) early 20th century - 1920.
Approx 2 3/4 inches high.
Millefiori base from which 5 flowers emerge. ANTIQUE GLASS EPERGNE STOURBRIDGE / WEBB
Antique Victorian cased pink glass epergne in the form of 3 Jack in the Pulpit flowers fanning out of a bowl. Made in England circa 1900 by either Stourbridge or Thomas Webb. Base is about 10inches accross. Total height is 15 1/4inches. Cased opalescent glass, pearly white in parts, pink running to ruby red stems in others. Base has frilly edges in pink and white with a conical center that
has a greenish tinge towards the point. Here the stems converge in brass holders seperated by a brass flower. Great quality and visual effect. The piece is in good condition. One brass holder is missing (but the stem fits directly into the holder) and one gorgeous flower has a tiny pinprick sized
hole, that is original to it's production and not the result of damage. It is so small that my camera could not capture it.
