| Very small Limited Edition: Large KPM porcelain figure of a brown bear. Germany, 20th century. He measures 7 1/2in high. He is sitting, but stretches out his neck, looking up as though trying to tell us something. Very cute, cuddly character depicted by moulding and subtle colouring. Beautiful detail of face, especially snout and mouth. Underneath are blue underglaze KPM marks. Also handwritten in grey is the letter K, which may be the decorator and the number 140/237 which probably indicates a limited edition and that this is number 140 out of 237 total that were made. Inscribed M. L. and M15. The teddy looks to be in perfect condition but upon very close inspection, I found 2 'rough' patches on the right side of his head (which I have taken close-ups of - you will find it almost impossible to see), which indicate a professional restoration. |
