Outstanding pair of vases made in France by Sevres or related Old Paris factory, 19th century. Just under 11inches high and width of base is 3 1/4inch. Square gilded bases with urn shaped vases. Scrolling handles beginning with spear shaped leaves are entirely gilded except for the moulded sun faces inside the scrolls. Black ground covered in a host of tiny gold and white flowers. The biggest area of both front and back of each vase is handpainted with a magnificent floral still life. Roses, daffodils, morning glory, anemone, blue cornflowers etc. This is outstanding painting of the highest quality. General good condition with a fair amount of wear to the gilding. |
