Judaica Sterling silver Sabbath candlesticks, possibly German or Russian, early 19th century.
Measure 11 5/8inches tall. Weighted.
Baroque style candlesticks. Stems like Corinthian columns. Triangular bottoms, standing on 3 scrolling feet, richly decorated with shells, scallops, scrolls, flowers, foliage and wheat and grapes. Acanthus leaves and scrolls above a narrow neck and below nozzles. Podium type base, also triangular with rounded edges.
Both pieces are hallmarked.
Condition is generally excellent with clear, crisp decoration and wonderful rich patina. One stick has been restored on the very thin neck - visible only if you are really looking for signs of any damage. |
