A Victorian / Edwardian fire screen made of mahogany wood with hand embroidered needlework inset. 29inches high and 27 1/2inches accross. Mahogany frame with simple wooden scrolls attached on top. Nice patina to old wood, which is in very good condition. Mortise and Tennon joinery. Embroidery on front of screen depicts a variety of fruit, butterflies, birds and a squirrel. Very exciting workmanship and bright colours. There is some wear to the background cloth, including at least 3 places where it has split and one missing patch that should all be restored. The embroidery is totally uncompromised and in fabulous shape with bright colours unfaded. |
