Manufacturer: VICTORIAN 3-D TERRACOTTA PLAQUE CHILD WINDOW
Extraordinary, large 3 dimentional plaque - child in a bonnet looking through a window. Victorian. Very rare. 20 X 14 inches. A little girl leans out of a window. Flanked on either side by Corinthian columns, one with grapes and vines, all carved in 3 dimentions. The scrolling capitols of the columns and pediment above the window are richly decorated with raised decoration, leaves, flowers etc The child is dressed in a large, frilly bonnet. The frills echoed by her dress. Bonnet tied with a ribbon - amazingly realistic. The face is painted a warm sunblessed peach with bright cheeks. She seems pensive, holding a single flower in one hand, one of her knuckles is scraped and bleeding - possibly full of symbolism. Fantastic detail to bonnet, face, clothes. Besides a chip on one of the numerous folds of her bonnet, the plaque is in excellent condition. |
