Very large Edwardian inlaid wood marquetry serving tray. Made in England first decade of the 20th century. <br> Total width is 26 3/4 inches, including the handles. Distance accross is about 14 inches. <br> Kidney shaped tray with brass handles on either end. Main wood is believed to be mahogany and the inlays are a variety of coloured fruit woods. A string of cream-coloured wood is inlaid about 1 inch from the rail/guard. Inlay consists of scrolling botanical subjects showing strong Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movement influence. <br> Underneath the tray has old velt to protect table surfaces. <br> Surface has wonderful patina and is extremely pleasing aesthetically. <br> Condition is very good with some minor negligible wood splitting on the rail due to age and natural wood shrinkage. |
