Handpainted ivory snuff bottle. Made China circa 1880.
Measures 2 5/8inches tall.
There are two scenes handpainted on this bottle. The sides bottom and top rim and cap are all painted in beautiful red and black patterns that complement the ivory colour and match the scenes painted on the front and back.
One side painted in black, depicts a bird of paradise sitting on the branch of a cherry tree. Stylised clouds and rocks with reeds or grasses. The opposite side, painted in red depicts a woman fanning herself beneath a tree, from which hangs a bird in a cage. Fine detail.
Signed underneath the base. See 'photos.
