Art glass vase with petrol puddle type iridescence. Made in Bohemia.

Measures 7 3/4 inches high.
Generally oval shape, pinched in a number of places with triangular, lobed upper rim. Superb colouring with a variety of appearances ranging from the iridescence that goes from richest gold, through blues to lavendar, purples and greens, to the mottled butterfuly type pattern, clear in golden greens near the bottom and more subtle within the blues. The colours metamorphasise with every slight change of light and angle.
Not signed as is very common with this glass. There are a number of examples made by Loetz that echo this vase in one way or another, in Das Bohmische Glas 1700 - 1950 Band IV. We have had a very aggressive comment by one person who claims that the vase is modern, made by Igor Muller. Whoever made it, it is a very lovely piece.
Condition is very good. No chips/cracks/damage of any sort. |
