Fabulous porcelain figural group depicting the mythological figures of Europa and the Bull with two handmaidens. Made by the Meissen factory in Germany, c
1880 -1920.<br><br> Measures approx 8 1/2 inches high and 8 1/2 inches accross. <br><br> Naturalistically formed and painted base with gilded scrolls, upon which are 3 figures draped on / around a bull wearing a thickly plaited garland of roses.
A basket of fruit at it's feet. The woman are mainly naked, with beautifully painted sheets of cloth draped around part of their bodies. Fine features and
detail to humans and bull, which is very sensitively modelled. <br><br> Marked underneath with blue crossed swords (no cancel marks). Impressed numerals and green letter E.<br><br> Generally very good condition. Negligible chips to some of the petals, but hands, feet and other parts of the figures in great shape. |
