Edwardian watercolour portrait miniature of a young girl by Oscar Wilson (1867 - 1930), President of the Royal Miniature Society. Done en grisaille (with a
limited palette), unusually in tones of red/pink and brown and with an exceptional tromp l'oeil frame.
Comes in a large gold frame with salmon background. Size of the actual painting is approx 4 1/2 X 5 1/8 inches. Frame is 13 X 14 1/4 inches.
Fabulous quality art work as can be expected from the president of the Royal Miniature Society, who pulls out all the stops in this little work depicting a
beautiful young lady in a ruffled cap with red ribbon, matching the bunch of geraniums at her neck. Please excuse white spots from flash - there is no
damage/loss to the work. Signed lower right with initials, O.W. See information on the back (as shown in last 'photo) about the artist and his achievements |
