Pair of antique bronze Classic Revival bronze and gilded bronze candlesticks. Made during the 19th century, in France.

Measure a little over 10 1/2 inches high.

Striking contrast between the deep brown bronze and the gilded areas. Shaped triangular bases above which are 3 beautifull defined dark brown paw feet with excellent detail such as the tiny nails. A smaller, but much more lavishly decorated triangle above them leads to a series of arches and a cup, the surface of which is also heavilly decorated with modelled foliage. This alternates again with deep bronze fluted columns, seemingly rising like stems from a flower and ending again in gilded foliate like cups which support the bobeches. Removable pans for ease of cleaning.
Very good condition. |
