Early 20th century ribbed vase with sculpted, raised flowers made by Newport Pottery Co, England and signed Clarice Cliff England. <br>
Measures 8 1/2 inches high. <br>
You can almost feel the potter's hands and the wheel as you look at this vase. THe light ground tinting to a pale blue/turquoise near the top is clearly ridged. Most of the surface has wonderful sculpted flowers on twigs in almost 3-dimentional modelling. Bright colours make it particularly cheerful and brash. Signed in raised letter underneath: CLARICE CLIFF ENGLAND and raised 899 L/S. Printed NEWPORT POTTERY CO ENGLAND and a green signature/initial. Very good condition - no chips/cracks/damage/restoration. |
