A George III sterling silver pepper / sugar caster, made in London, England, by Hester Bateman, 1784. <P> Measures approx 5 3/4 inches high. Weighs 2.535 oz (73g). <P> Round base with baluster body. Lid fits securely and is engraved and pierced with particularly attractive design. Piercing is intact (no splits). Twist finial on top of lid beautifully moulded. The top with Finely engraved initials on front.<P> A row of hallmarks underneath Maker's mark H.B; lion, leopard and date letter 'i'. Lion and maker's mark on lid.<br> Condition is very good. |
