Vintage Judaica sterling silver serving spoon with openwork / cut out Hebrew letters spelling the word "MAZAL".

Measures 8 1/4 inches long and weighs over 2 oz.

Beautifully crafted spoon with repoussed scrolls around the arching handle. TIght, very high quality workmanship. THe end of the handle has a moulded fanshaped shell with foliage beneath that and an engraved initial which looks like T or J.
The bowl of the spoon has large Hebrew letters Mem, Zayin and Lamed, spelling out Mazal - Luck in Hebrew. While this spoon comes alone, we are guessing that originally it would have had a partner knife/fork, which might have spelled out TOV. THat is pure conjecture.

THe spoon has an unidentified maker's hallmark and the word STERLING on the back. The slight wear of the mark indicates that this is a vintage spoon.

Very good condition. |
