Manufacturer: ANTIQUE SILVER IVORY CHILD BABY RATTLE BELLS Silver rattle with a silver figure of a boy in historical costume holding a bell with original ivory handle. European. 19th century.

Total length is approx 7 inches.

A young boy with shoulder-length hair stands on a stylised hill with chased repoussed foliage. He wears oriental clothing - wide sleeves, floral repousse
bolero and flower-form skirt bottom of the tunic. Wide, flowing trousers and pointy shoes. In one hand he holds a bell that swings and rings. Suspended from
the base are another 6 jingle bells.
A conical extention under the domed base connects to a shaped ivory handle. A loop on one side was possibly connected to a chain. There is a hole on one side
of the ivory, where the chain could have been joined to on the other side. Very fine and beautiful detail. Possibly worn hallmarks on funnel on underside are not legible. Otherwise, very good condition.
