Antique Loetz glass box with hand painted thistle flowers in enamel. 19th - early 20th century, Bohemia / Czechoslovakia (Now Czech Republic).

Measures 5 3/4 inches accross at widest part and a little under 3 inches high.

Classic Loetz glass with scaley surface and great iridescence on a gold-orange ground. Colours go from blue to green, purple and silver. The surface top and
sides is hand painted in enamel with a thistle pattern - not sure whether it's a Scottish theme as it seems to have Egyptian Revival papyrus overtones.
Whatever the case, it is very well done in the Aesthetic style.
A metal mount surrounds top and bottom rim and joins them with a hinge.

The only mark is a gold handwritten 43 on the inside of the lid.

Very good condition. No chips/cracks/restorations. |
