Manufacturer: BOHEMIAN FRITZ HECKERT PAPERWEIGHT GLASS VASE Antique art glass paperweight vase with handpainted decoration. Made Bohemia (now Czech Republic), circa 1900 in the Fritz Heckert factory.

Measures 8 1/8 inches high. 4 1/8 inches in diameter on the top.

Round very heavy glass base, made as a paperweight. Narrows to the cylindrical neck and then trumpet form, gently flaring body of the vase. Glass is transparent. A series of concentric golden yellow glass circles on borders and on body, with black outlines and rings of white enamel 'jewels' or beads.
Linear decoration - black outlines filled in with bright blue. Arching spriggs of foliage alternate with bright golden yellow butterflies - also with the black outline and with white enamel jewels. The identical decoration can be seen in a number of long-stemmed glasses by Fritz Heckert on page 71, vol V of Das Bohmische Glas 1700 - 1950, (the ultimate book on Bohemian glass). The example on the left has identical foliage in the identical shade of blue, but no butterflies. Butterflies can be seen on another Fritz Heckert vase, page 68 of the same book.

There is no mark on the vase but there is no doubt that it was made by Fritz Heckert.

Very good condition. Negligible surface scratches underneath the vase where it came in touch with a table/surface, but no chips/cracks/damage or restoration of any sort on the body of the vase.
