Manufacturer: BURSLEY WARE FREDERICK RHEAD ARTPOTTERY PLATE Art pottery charger / plate made by Frederick Rhead, Charlotte Rhead's even more famous father at Wood & Sons Bursley Ltd., England c 1920.

Measures 9 inches in diameter.

Frederick Rhead, Charlotte's father worked at Wood & Sons and it was he who brought Charlotte to work there, under him. This plate / charger was designed by Frederick. It depicts a bird in a stylistic landscape. Sitting on the gnarled branch of a bent tree, thickly enamelled outlined foliage and stylised flowers surround them. You can feel the texture of the layers of enamel if you run your finger over the plate. Wonderful colours and design.
