Vintage 925 silver match box cover for Sabbath. Made circa 1948-1960, very likely in Israel. <P><P>
Weighs 23grams. Standard matchbox size - 2inches long X 1 1/2 inches wide X a little over 5/8 inches high. <P><P>
Rectangular shape with a raised wishbone-foliage border. Scrolling shaped reserve with repousse flowers and foliage - great detail. An arc of Hebrew letters reads :
Lichvod Shabat Kodesh (For the Holy Sabbath). <P><P>
Engraved mark 925 on the side. <P><P>
Very good condition.
Came from the home of some old Judaica from the beginning of the State of Israel c 1948. |
