Exceptionally fine little micromosaic picture frame. Mounted in brass. Made circa 1850-1880. <P><P>
Measures 3 3/4 total length and 3 inches total width. Rectangle alone is 3 1/8 X 2 5/8 inches. <P><P>
Easel style frame, set in brass. The oval reserve for displaying a picture bordered by a finely detailed brass border. THe rectangular frame with a series of gradated micromosaic circles around each corner for additional effect. Here, in particular, we can see the exceptionally fine work of the craftsman as the setting of the tesserae is minute. An outer border to the rectangle in blue and white encloses a simple brass border, within which is a profusion of flowers of every variety and colour, very finely depicted. <P><P>
The quality of the workmanship of this frame is superior and there are no missing tesserae. Good condition.
